Spryker is dedicated to making the world a better place

Spryker is not just a leader in commerce technology but understands our greater responsibility as advocates for how to make the world around us a better place. This starts with our investment in being sustainable responsible, comply with the 5 steps in climate protection and are ClimatePartner certified.

We commit to the fight against climate change and our commitment to remaining “ClimatePartner certified” as we expand internationally and move to remote work. What is a ClimatePartner certified company? This means that we have calculated our greenhouse gas emissions, set reduction targets, take reduction measures, support climate projects and are absolutely transparent.

Our commitment

Promoting a just transition to renewable energy in Africa

The African continent faces many social, economic, health, and environmental challenges. Transitioning to an energy system centered on renewable energy such as wind, solar or hydro is key for sustainable development, especially regarding mitigating the effects of climate change and providing access to clean and affordable energy for all. Africa could double its energy demand during the next decade and the current grid relies mostly on non-renewable, emission-intensive sources such as coal. We must end the “addiction to fossil fuels”, as UN Secretary-General Guterres puts it, to reduce CO2 emissions significantly, especially in the energy sector. Thus, it is crucial to promote the expansion of sustainable energy. On the African continent, this transition can contribute to ending energy poverty, stabilizing grids, and reducing energy dependencies.

Promoting clean wind energy in Chile

How wind energy contributes to climate action: As the name suggests, wind turbines use the power of the wind to generate energy. During this process, a generator located inside the wind turbine converts kinetic energy into electrical energy. As energy is still mainly generated from fossil fuels in many areas around the world, clean wind energy can replace some of this fossil, high-emission energy and verifiably save CO2 emissions. In most cases, the sustainably generated electricity from the wind power projects is fed into a regional power grid, which diversifies the power supply and improves energy security in regions that are frequently affected by power shortages and outages. A project often creates increased job opportunities for the local population and the area can be used for additional activities, such as agriculture. Wind power projects make an important contribution to a clean energy supply worldwide and contribute to sustainable development with respect to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Spryker Runs on AWS!

AWS is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud offering, with millions of global users depending on it every day. To build a sustainable business for their customers and for the world we all share, they’re designing data centers that provide the efficient, resilient service customers expect while minimizing their environmental footprint.

Studies by 451 Research have shown:

  • AWS’ infrastructure is 3.6 times more energy efficient than the median of U.S. enterprise data centers surveyed
  • AWS’ infrastructure is up to five times more energy efficient than the average in Europe
  • AWS can lower customers’ workload carbon footprints by nearly 80% compared to surveyed enterprise data centers
  • This can lower to 96% once AWS is powered with 100% renewable energy—a target AWS is on path to meet by 2025
